Academic Interests

Dr. Rhee focuses his efforts on palliative care and works with oncology in providing supportive care and improved symptom management to advanced cancer patients, as well as participating in a multi-center trial looking at the benefits of early palliative care involvement in Stage IV cancer. His primary clinical and academic interest is creating a collaboration with the cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery teams to provide palliative care services to the LVAD (left ventricular assist device) population, as well as advanced heart failure patients. Other interests include physician peer education, focusing on communication skills and teaching about the basics of palliative medicine, as well as examination of the ethical issues surrounding end of life care.
