The broad goal of Dr. Churpek's research is to investigate the role of germline genetics in the etiology of hematologic malignancies. Specifically, through detailed genomic investigation of families with a propensity to develop hematologic malignancies or bone marrow failure, she aims to identify novel mechanistic pathways underlying myelodysplastic syndrome, leukemia and lymphoma development, the study of which will broaden our understanding of disease etiology and allow development of novel therapeutics and prevention strategies
